This is my second Zoji breadmaker. I have used my first one for seven years with success. Two reasons I bought this one: because I got a great deal on it and because it makes a normal loaf instead of an upside right loaf like most early bread machine made.

I used it for the first time with ease. This has one thing better other than the shape of the loaf -- it displays text when it's time to add nuts or raisins. The older Zoji only beeped, and I couldn't hear it. I paid more than half price less for this new one than my first one. Prices have dropped and it pays off quickly, even if you don't use it much.

I use it less than in the past busier life, you know? It has dough setting, so you can let it do all the kneading for you and then take it out to cook in a separate pan, braid, or whatever you need to do. It has a whole wheat, quick bake, and normal bread settings. You can bake jam and cake with it, but I've never done either. There's recipes that come with the package and you can find many of them on the Internet. Or go easy, buy bread mix and throw it in. If you want to wake up to fresh smelling bread, it's possible with the Zoji's 13 hour delay timer.

I haven't used this one either. The only downside is cleaning up the mess Maybe it's not due to the mixing, but anyway I follow instructions and they're pretty exact with measuring cups etc. This is my second "Z" machine. My first, I wore out making an average of one loaf of bread a day for the past 10 years. Almost always had excellent results. Am disappointed in this new one as it is extremely noisey and the loaf size is very inconsistent -- even when using the same recipe from the book.

Most of the time, the bread is higher on one end than the other. On the positive side: bread is easier to toast. Slices from the old machine verticle loaf didn't fit most toasters. This bread does -- especially when you toast from the 'short' end. All in all, I'm not sure I'd have spent the money on this except that I had had good experience with the verticle model. Heard too many horror stories about other machines 'wondering' when kneading to try something else.

Also find it frustrating that there is no direct website to Zojirushi Corp. The first v20 i purchased worked fine for the first loaf,it made great bread except the crust control did not work,the machine did not work at all for the second loaf. Amazon was great about replacing the machine.

The second machine was very noisy the first one was very quiet the replacement clunked and calnked after i used it a few times. I disassembled the machine and found that the gears had fallen off of the shafts,not sufficient loctite.

I had to go thru this repair process twice,I finally used an iron type epoxy,so far so good. It still clunks while mixing.

The kneeding blades fit so loosly on the shaft that it is no wonder they clunk and bang. As soon as i feel i've had sufficient use out of this machine it is history. It's a shame because it makes a great loaf of bread. I bought this machine about a year ago in an attempt to start cooking healthier for my family. I was a little worried about wearing the machine out since whole wheat bread is heavier and harder to mix, but there have been no problems. Also, I live at high altitude about ft , but the breads have turned out very well with a little twinking.

She has many whole wheat recipes as well as recipes with non-wheat flours and for breads that mix and rise in the machine but bake in the oven. We have been the proud owner of a Zojirushi BBCC-V20 for a few years now, and just like when we first got it, we still love it. Of all of the bread machines we own, use, and test, the Zojirushi V20 is our favorite. The quality is incredible; and it has a nice looking compact design. It has all of the features we want and need, including a very useful custom programmable cycle. The true horizontal pan with dual kneading blades does an incredible job of kneading the dough, including the heavy and denser whole grain doughs.
