Verified Purchase. Harvey picks up right where she left off in the previous book Bleeding Hearts. The Drakes are in serious trouble.
Solange is changing and not for the better. She is craving human blood and even attacked her boyfriend Kieran in order to drink his blood but thankfully she didn't kill him as the cliffhanger in Bleeding Hearts suggested. Solange is distancing herself from her family and her friends. She won't tell her parents or her brothers what's bothering her and instead deals with it in her own way whining, drinking from a blood slave and becoming closer with Constantine which is definitely not the smartest things for her to do.
Solange breaks up with Kieran which made me angry at her. I mean they were a couple for four books although in Bleeding Hearts things seemed not to be going well between them. But still I was mad at Solange and sad for Kieran. Solange also stops being Lucy's best friend.
She won't answer Lucy's calls or texts. Leaving Lucy completely in the dark. Solange is driving everyone away from her except for Constantine and the blood slave Penelope.
Needless to say Solange is not my favorite character in this book. I found her way too annoying and making such stupid decisions that I wanted to stake her. Of course I didn't like Constantine any better and I think he's in league with Viola, the character who was revealed near the end of the book. She was the one controlling Solange. Still I have little sympathy for Solange since she annoyed me through the entire book.
Lucy is now attending the Helios-Ra school and is being picked on by the other students since she's dating Nicholas lucky girl. She becomes closer to Kieran and Hunter and a few other hunters at school though.
Lucy is the one who guesses right that Solange is not herself toward the end of the book but I don't remember if she is aware of Viola controlling Solange. Nicholas doesn't have it any easier. He's trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with his baby sister while spending time to go see Lucy. Later Nicholas gets kidnapped and tortured but somehow escapes although we don't know how he did escape or if he was just let go.
Nicholas also seemed to go through a darker change in the end of the book but not on the same level as Solange. My heart breaks for Lucy and Nicholas in this book. Was I the only one who was totally confused at the end of this book?
I thought there was just too much going on and way to many characters to keep track of. Blood Moon creates more questions than answers. Oh my, what can I say about this one? I couldn't wait to read this after the last one ended. The cliffhanger was pretty brutal and left me on the edge of my seat. Unfortunately even though I love this series, I just didn't find the time to read it until now, even though I got this one the day it released.
I am so glad I finally was able to make time for it. As always, Harvey delivered and came through for me with yet another action packed exciting read that again, left me on the edge of my seat and wanting more. I was a little cautious going into this one, I won't lie. With the way the last one ended and with Solange acting all vampy, well, to put it mildly, I wasn't too sure I would even like her anymore after reading this one and I really really wanted to like her still.
I love all the Drakes and their yumminess Okay so that isn't a real word, tough, I'm using it. But let's not get to Solange just yet, first let's talk about Lucy. I adore Lucy. She is one feisty girl that can hang with vamps and not only see them for the kindness some of them have but still be strong enough to kick their butts when they are being bad and hunt them down if their killers.
Yep, she is pretty kick butt. Nicholas, oh how I love thee more each book. I love all the Drake brothers, I really do but Nicholas is just awesome. He and Quinn are my favorites so I was super excited to see him play a big role in this one. He really is just sweet and kick butt and I love reading about him and Lucy and getting to really see how much he loves her and his family.
I guess I can't avoid it any longer I have to talk about Solange since she is a big part of this book, but, where to begin? So much happens to her and with her that I don't even know what to say without giving anything away except maybe this, she isn't our Solange anymore and for good reason.
I just hope that by the next book she and a certain other Drake will be okay again because if not, it would seriously break my heart. I really really hope he gets what is coming to him and I sincerely hope that we learn more about him. I know he plays a part in this all. He helped Viola I just know it and I hope we find out why. This is such a fun series. I can't wait to read the last book. I know it will be a bitter sweet journey. See all reviews from the United States. Top international reviews.
What a way to start a book and with Lucy as the voice too. Ah I do love Lucy : This series is awesome and despite it being about a much used and abused subject in literature, Alyxandra Harvey has managed to keep this vampire tale fresh and unique and with a witty modern twist.
Having said that, despite the humour, there are some pretty intense and emotional scenes that tugged on my heartstrings so bad I was close to tears and I truly felt for Lucy, Nicholas and Solange, whom all take centre stage in this instalment.
The only thing I could say I found fault with was that despite the fact the book was a good or so pages there wasn't as much ground covered as in the previous books, though I suspect this is because it's leading up the next one where, judging by the ending of this one, all hell will break loose probably literally!
As for the ending itself, well I have this thing for cliffhangers In this case however I'll have to forgive Ms Harvey since I love this series so much and I'll just have to wait patiently for the next in the series :- well, sort of patiently.
Anyway, if you like vampires, but are bored of the usual stuff out there then give this series a go. But don't start with this book, that would be silly.
I guarantee you'll be hooked by the end of book one. Epic read! Thank you for your feedback. Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. This book follows on pretty much from the last with Lucy finding Solange with Kieran after she had fed from him.
I was punchy from fatigue and had what felt like an adrenaline hangover. And not only was I covered in ashes and bruises from fighting feral Hel-Blar vampires and blowing up a ghost town, but I was sure there was some kind of mistake. She looked so wispy and pale she was practically translucent, except for the blue veins that traced her collarbone. Her fangs were out, all three sets. She held up a hand when I stepped closer.
