Editorial issues were still a big problem. The writing was still poor, using the same handful of descriptions until I just started skimming the book to find out how it ends. The ending was, not surprisingly, very predictable. I still liked the story as far as entertainment value, but the characters barely grew and were not well-rounded or easy to relate to.

The constant sicky-sweet declarations of undying and eternal love coupled with constantly having to boot the main character's ego stood at the forefront of the premise, grossly overshadowing the ever-shrinking details of the plot. Ana, the main character, bumbles her way through the entire story, constantly whining about how unattractive and unhelpful she is when she's not brooding over Athen's every move and mooning over how "amazing" he is.

She came across as a complete attention hog, desperately clining to her lover's coat tails like an addict. The relationship between these two characters is borderline masochistic, as Athen seems to exist in this story solely to simultaneously boost Ana's constant need for support and to remind her just how imperfect she is compared to him.

And please do not get me started on how often each character had to enthusiastically congratulate another character in an obnoxious and obviously superficial manner.

All of this, to me, needs to be toned down to be believable or relatable. The bad guy was very easily defeated to the point I wondered why it took three books to end him. This enitre trilogy really should have been condensed into a single book; there was absolutely no reason to draw this out for as long as the author did. If she would have cut back on the ooey-gooey scenes of "romance" and whiny, unneeded character interaction, there wouldn't have been a need for three books at all.

I am, to say the least, very disappointed in this trilogy. I doubt I will purchase anything from this author in the future. View all 3 comments. Dec 27, Lauren rated it it was amazing. Cataclysm is the third book in The Watchers Trilogy. As with Legions, this third installment starts of basically right where we left off - Thank God!

With "losing" another main character I don't think that my heart could take much more. Thankfully it doesn't take long for us to figure out what happens with the lovely Arie But I'm not going to even hint at whether or not her plan works.

Read the book! Lives will be lost. You have been warned. Although, you should be used to that by now That is all you get for spoilers in this book. It's the final of the series and you are not allowed to find out how it ends unless you read it! I have to say that there is a lot that happens in the book and I couldn't be happier with the ending.

Miss Karice, you did a fantastic job! I absolutely loved these books and I am soooo excited to start reading The Witch Avenue series! It is actually my next books to read. You're lucky though, I usually don't even start reading a series until all of the books are out. I am very much an instant gratification kind of girl, and I don't like waiting! Aug 27, Elise rated it did not like it. The subject of this book is awesome and even interesting. The writing is so horrible. I have never read such terrible writing.

It is so disappointing to see such a good idea for a trilogy carried out with such bad writing. There were many moments when I wanted to throw the book across the room, but didn't because it wasn't worth breaking my Nook over.

One of the worst was when everyone kept calling the main character sweetie. The author failed to make me feel anything for the characters. This bo The subject of this book is awesome and even interesting. This book is under the bargain section for the Nook and rightfully so. I read all three hoping by the third that everything would get better.

It didn't. Big waste of time. Maybe a competent author can rewrite the series so it is worth reading. May 01, Kim Swenson rated it did not like it. I found this book slow, dull and boring. Jul 04, Lynn rated it it was amazing. I've enjoyed the whole trilogy. Yes, some of the writing was so so, and a few flaws in the storyline, but a true love story for her soul mate and mankind in general. Feb 22, Kirsten Arnold rated it really liked it. I enjoyed this series and would recommend it to other young girls. It was a good read. Jun 27, Erika rated it really liked it Shelves: read-in Summary From Goodreads: When it becomes obvious that the dark side will stop at nothing to control the mortal world, Ana is faced with a decision that could determine the fate of Fallen Angels everywhere.

Review: I love how this cover beautifully ties in with the two others in the series. The pieces of the puzzle from the first two novels fell into place beautifully. If you have not read the first two novels in the series, Awakening and Legions, you must do so now before picking up Cataclysm.

You can still read this review, because I am going to keep it spoiler free, which tends to get kind of hilarious for the people who have read it and know what I am talking about. I just really wanted my girl to win!!
